IMPELLER ASM-SHRED 981-04094

1. Removed the chipper/shredder large leaf and the small debris chute.
2. Removed the spacer.
3. Removed the debris fence assembly and the deflector.
4. Removed the plenum and the external extractor chute.
5. Removed the center chipper/shredder blade assembly hub bolt.
6. Placed 2 wedges 180-¦ apart under the ... Read more chipper/shredder blade disk assembly.
7. Sprayed WD-40 around and inside of the hub-center bolt hole, filling the bolt hole all the way up.
8. Used a propane torch to heat up the center of the hub until it was red hot to expand the compression fit of the hub to the engine\'s shaft. I did this until WD-40 began to boil. Then I turned off the torch and let the metal cool to contract and to allow the WD-40 to seep in.
9. I waited for about 5 min then hit the wedges with a hammer a couple of times until the plate became unseated and separated from engine shaft.
10. I cleaned the engine shaft, installed the new chipper/shredder blade assembly. Inserted through the bolt and torqued.
11. Reassembled the chute assemblies.
12. Checked everything over to ensure everything looked right.
13. Inspected the chute for any for debris, once I ensured it was clear I started up the chipper/shredder.
14. Works like new.
