Drive cable stops the engine when you let go of the handle operator presence handle, when the brake cable is damaged or broken, the mower becomes temporarily inoperable requiring a replacement cable. Disconnect spring at upper end of cable. Remove bolt from upper end of cable housing. Remove drive cover from mower deck. Clean the accumulated debris from the area revealed, this should be done seasonally to extend drive system life! Disconnect the lower end of the cable. Depress the retaining fingers on the lower end of the cable housin g while pulling it to the rear. Feed the cable to the rear thru any retainers. Installation is reverse of the removal. Happy mowing!

Removed & replaced throttle control cable.
I just looked how they were attached and did the same with the new ones.
