The head will not turn. I cannot thread the trimmer and if I could there is no movement to be able to hit the head and release more string. There are 2 cylinders that are between the removable piece and the actual motorized piece. I think there used to be springs there but can't find anything to tell me.
Sheila For model number Tb 575 ec - May 9, 2022

Hello Sheila, Thank you for your inquiry. The springs would be part of the cutting head assembly, part# 753-08182. You may have an issue with this part or with the gearbox assembly, part# 753-06124. There are installation videos under the descriptions of each part to show how to remove them. We hope this helps and if you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. 1. Remove old Cutting Head Assembly. You need to lock the shaft by sticking a 3/16\" diameter steel rod into the hole in the shaft just above the cutting head assembly. The hole may be filled with dry grass or other debris and may have to be cleaned out before being able to insert the steel rod in. Once the shaft is locked the assembly can be unscrewed from the end of the shaft. 2. After all the old parts of the assembly have been removed the new cutting head assembly can be screwed back on the shaft.

1. Removed the head assembly, including the bushing, adapter and cutting head. (I replaced all of these because the bushing assembly is difficult to take apart. Once I have the right tools I will remove the old adapter and cutting head and reuse. It was easier this way and I needed to get the repair completed in a timely manner),
2. Applied lithium grease to the spindle area of the shaft.
3. Installed the bushing assembly.
4. Installed the adapter.
5. Installed the spring and cutting head assembly.
6. Started the engine in the normal fashion and worked great.

I stuck a small flat head screwdriver in the slot where the shaft and head assembles to lock the shaft in place and gave the head a twist counter clockwise to remove the old head from the shaft and did the opposite of the removal process to install the new head that came already wound with the cutting line. Takes about 5-7 minutes to do.
