This is a genuine manufacturer-sourced component which is specially produced for use with Troy-Bilt, Yard Man and MTD handheld string trimmers. It is an identical replacement for a missing or a faulty spring that was installed on a new unit. The purpose of this hardware is to apply tension on the throttle trigger. Please make sure to refer to the appropriate diagrams of your model for the correct location and application of this part. Keep in mind it is a high-quality spring is made of durable metal and is sold individually.

Remove the screws from the housing and separate them.
Make note how the spring is placed in the housing
Remove the spring and broken trigger and throttle cable
Install the new trigger and spring and throttle cable

Make sure when screwing the assembly back together that the wires and throttle cable do not bec ome pinched where the assembly joins together.

Trigger broke when removing from starage - my bad

Removed the trigger handle components. Removed broken trigger, replaced with new part but had problem with the trigger sticking and discovered it wasnÆt properly seated in the holder. DidnÆt need spring, but wasnÆt sure. Might need in the future.

Removed the torx head bolts
Split the handle apart, removed old trigger and spring.
Installed new parts.
