Product Description

?

This band saw wheel tire is designed to fit over the drive or idle wheel to provide proper traction and support for the blade during operation. Its durable rubber or urethane construction helps maintain correct blade tracking, tension, and stability, contributing to smoother cuts and more accurate results. Replacing a worn, cracked, or hardened tire restores reliable blade alignment, reduces slipping, and improves overall cutting performance, helping ensure safe and consistent operation during everyday woodworking tasks.

1. Removed pieces of the old tire.
2. Inspected the aluminum wheel for burrs, cracks, saw dust buildup, etc.
3. Stretched the new tire over the aluminum wheel to fit into the groove. Pushed the tire over the edge so that it lays flat in the groove.
4. Replaced the band saw blade. Tightened the blade to the correct tension. Adjusted the ball bearing and 2 cooling/tracking blocks. Checked tracking. All looked good.
5. Put guard back on the saw.

Total time was about 15 minutes.

Removed the blade guard so the blade could be taken off. Loosened up the tension adjustment to remove the blade. Finished removing the old tire. Started installing the new tire by hand until it wouldn\'t go on anymore. Using a round shaft screwdriver, so as not to gouge the wheel, I inserted it between the tire and wheel. Holding the tire in place with one hand and holding the screwdriver in the other hand, I worked the screwdriver around the wheel toward the other hand until the tire slipped on the wheel. Removed the screw driver, replaced the blade, tightened up the tension and replaced the guard. Tested it first by manually rotating the wheels to make sure the blade stayed aligned. Closed the safety doors and turned it on.

First, remove the blade. Then remove the wheels from the saw using a wrench. This was quick and easy; watch for the pin that aligns the lower wheel. You will need it to replace the wheel.

Take the old tires off and stretch the new tires on. I had trouble with the tires being too tight to do this by hand. Two zip ties to hold the middle of the new tire in place allowed me to use two screwdrivers to lever the ends of the tires in place. (The shaft of the screwdriver, not the end; anything strong and not sharp, dowels would also work). Once the tire is on, leave one screwdriver between the tire and the wheel and slide it around the wheel to straighten the tire. Cut off the zip ties first.

The Jet band saw wheels have a lip to hold the tire, so no glue is required (they weren\'t glued originally). Replace wheels on band saw and adjust as usual. Works perfectly now.

Not much to the repair just fit the new tire over the wheel and you\'re done. If the new tire fits tightly you may need to soak it in warm water then immediately put it on the wheel. The hot water helps the band stretch.
