This OEM sourced replacement part is designed for use with Ryobi chainsaw. It fits over the bar and it is what cuts the material. Over time the chain will stretch and become dull so it will need to be replaced. It is made out of metal and it is sold individually. To replace this chain you would need a wrench set and a screwdriver. • Remove the guide bar side panel • Release the chain tension • Remove the old chain • Loosen the tension screw • Thread the new chain onto the saw • Align the guide bar • Replace the side plate • Tighten the chain to the correct tension • Finish tightening the side plate nuts

Dull chain

Simply remove old dull chain by removing chain drive cover, then install new chain on bar, replace cover, tighten chain then finish tightening cover.

Loosened and removed nuts. Removed chain bar. Removed old chain. Installed new chain on chain bar looped around sproket. Installed cover with nuts and tightened chain with alignment screw.

Cutting slowly and not cutting straight.

Remove nuts holding bar, take bar off saw.
loosen chain tension a lot (old chain has stretched).
Straighten out new chain, make sure direction matches old chain (turn over if not).
Remove old chain.
While it\'s open, clean out sawdust packed into sprocket area.
Put new chain onto bar, getting all the guide ni bs into groove in bar.
Put bar back onto bolts, hook chain over sprocket, pull bar to take out most of slack in chain.
Turn tension screw in or out as needed to get adjustment hole in bar to fit onto the adjustment peg.
Hold bar in place, replace cover and nuts. Hand tighten nuts, then adjust chain tension and then fully tighten nuts.
Note that new chain will stretch some in initial use, so recheck tension frequently during the first hour of use.
