This is an authentic OEM part from the Penn manufacturer. The worm is made of high-quality metal, and is made for use with GT Level Wind Reels. This feature is fastened to the left side worm bearing in the frame assembly. Corresponding with the spool gears, the worm is designed to help drive the fishing reel spool. This item is sold individually. A screwdriver is required for the replacement.

Catching too many big fish led to the demise of the worm gear and pawl

Removed hardware to access the worm gear and lock nut. Removed lock nut from old worm gear to remove it and Installed new worm and worm shield. Applied reel lube and grease to all moving parts and replaced the hardware to the reel.

Removed right and left end plate, unscrewed bolt at bottom of line guide and removed. Unscrewed left hand end screw from worm, dropped out worm and replaced with new. Replaced pawl in line guide and reinstalled line guide loosely to worm. Replaced end plates and tightened line guide bolt for smooth travel on worm.
