Easy quick fix, sorta
Received the Cover for my Craftmans lawnmower within a week of ordering. Ordered as standard shipping. The original cover broke a section that holds the front axle in place, therefore the height adjustment would not stay in place. The cover came in, but noticed that it was not made to add the metal height adjusting plate. The screw/bolt holes for the metal plate were hollow. I replaced the original bolts with self tapping screws (with a washer on it), long enough to where they ran through the cover. Hopefully they hold for more than 1 run. Thinking of possibly replacing the self tapping screws with a bolt and nut. Reading other websites, the original cover has been discontinued and this is the new cover model, which makes it difficult to attach the metal plate on to. I like to rate it as a ReplacementParts a 5, but the description could have/should have noted the differences in this Cover, or maybe it's Craftman's fault?

Released the axle from the other locking clamp with a screwdriver, (I didn\'t remove the wheels) took the mounting bolts that hold the cover onto the front of the mower off with a socket, and removed the cover, and with the same size socket, removed the piece that the height adjuster bar locks into from the old cover, and placed it on the
... Read more new cover; then I reattached the new cover to the mower and put on and tightened the bolts, lined up the front axle with the left and right side locking clamps, and with a good whack, popped the axle on both sides into place, set my cutting height, and was done!
1. Removed the old front axle cover by using a socket to remove 6 screws.
2.Used a screw driver the hold the clips out of the way.

3. Applied a minimal amount of lubricant on to the plastic clips
4. Pushed hard to pop the axle into place.
