This is an authentic OEM sourced replacement starter assembly which is specially designed for use with Kawasaki handheld lawn and garden equipment. It is the mechanical assembly allows a user to pull-start the engine, over time components may wear out and begin to fail eventually requiring a replacement. Removed covers to access starter recoil. Removed recoil assembly to find starter pulley worn. Ordered new parts. Used a screw driver down next to starter pulley to carefully hold flywheel while I used adjustable pliers to remove pulley. Reversed to put on. Put back together. Runs like a champ again.

Recoil spring came unwound when I was trying to install a new starter pull rope
