While getting my firewood in for the winter, my chain on my chain saw kept getting loose. The only explanation I could think that was causing the problem was the screw and pivot which pulls the blade
After removing the two bolts that hold the plate on the side of the saw, I removed the plate and clip. I removed the small screw which holds the inside plate and distributes oil onto the chain. Replace broken chain tensioner on Sachs-Dolmar chainsaw

... Read more from turning when turning the clutch from the opposite side of the crankshaft. Using a spanner wrench remove the clutch from the motor. I happened to have one that fit my 4.5\" slag grinder- the wrench which I use to remove the nut when changing a grinder/cutting wheel. To loosen the clutch, turn it in opposite direction of a normal thread. In this case, you need to turn the clutch clockwise to loosen it from the crankshaft. After the clutch is removed, remove the backing plate from behind the clutch and replace the straining screw (chain tensioner). Them Reassemble the saw in reverse order.
