If your chainsaw can not keep a tight chain, you might need a new adjust pin. This is an authentic Makita adjustment pin and is sold separately. The pin connects to the adjustment screw and fits into a hole on the bar. When the screw is twisted, it moves the adjustment pin to either tighten or loosen the chain on the bar. Damage typically happens when the bar has been over-tightened. This causes the threads to strip out of the pin or strip on the adjustment screw. Sometime this will even cause the pin to be sheared off by the bar.
