This pump helps expel water from the washing machine and is activated after the spin speed is maintained for a specific period of time. This part is used on front load models.
1. removed lower front cover and found filter to pump full of old hardware and widgets, hardened like concrete. Impeller to pump was broken. You can use a T-20 or 9/32\" to remove screws.

... Read moreith a little extra determination i was able to work the belt on. Seems the old one had stretched about 4 inches.
3. Had to remove back panel to get at belt and hose connection to tub. When removing back panel only take the screws off that need to be taken off. There are four screws that hold the side to side brackets in place, they can be left in place. Remove 4 plastic clips by pulling out and sliding inward towards center.
4. Unit was 17 years old, first time inside and it looked in good condition. Amazing how few parts were in there.
