chain kept coming off and I found that the washer and retaining ring had come off and gotten lost

Most of the time was spent scraping and cleaning out the varnish-like crud under the sprocket so the sprocket would seat properly and I would have room to install the retainer ring. The double spiral retainer ring was too stiff to spread by hand so I had to drill out a piece of bar stock for a tool to hold it centered over the spindle an d tap the bar stock with a hammer to knock it on.

Removed casing to get to spot where retaining ring needed to be installed...Making sure bar and chain were tight I installed the ring....I then reattached the casing and all was done...

Like I said it took two of us to study it and figure it out how to put it on we didn\'t watch any videos but the repair went perfectly well thank you for being there with the right part
