Reverse what you just did to put it together
Unscrewed the caps and installed the new brushes. Definitely saved me so much money, I was looking at new saws, but, always try to troubleshoot and repair first.
Thankfully I ordered the part, shipping was fast and it was just what I needed.
ordered the parts (2 brushes, 2 caps) via ereplacementparts.com. the parts arrived in a timely manner I should add. placed the brushes into the slots on the saw motor, used a slotted scewdriver to install the caps one on each side.
Removed the caps on motor

Replaced with new points
Replaced caps
Plugged in saw
Nothing......points were not the issue

Turns out a screw to a wire on the switch had worked itself loose

Replaced the connection and the screw and I had my saw again
Switch repair cost me nothing because I had the electrical parts and screw on hand.
