This is a genuine OEM sourced part used on the DeWalt DCST990M1 (Type 1) 40V 15" String Trimmer. The plastic and metal replacement spool is fastened to the gearcase assembly at the base of the trimmer. This item houses and dispenses the cutting line for trimming grass. A screwdriver is needed for the installation, and the replacement spool is sold individually.

Unscrew the spool which has a left hand thread and threaded the replacement spool on the grass trimmer.

Metal insert (where line exits) on hub blew out and caused line to break early and hang up on exit on a dewalt 40v max string trimmer

Removed line spool, removed 1/2\" nut holding the bump spring, slid the entire hub assembly off and replaced with the new one by aligning the new hub and bump spring on center shaft and replaced the 1/2\" nut hand tight. Super easy.

removed the old spool and put the new one on,just turn it off the spindle and screw the new one on,that simple,no tools required
