This replacement flap, also known as the rear skirt is specially designed for use with Black and Decker as well as Dewalt walk-behind lawn mowers. It is an authentic item that is supplied directly from original equipment manufacturer. It is attached to the back of the mower deck to protect your feet and legs from grass clippings and debris. It is made out of black plastic and it is sold individually. Replacing this item is a very simple task that does not require any tools. It simply snaps on the rear axle.

Took off right wheel. Slipped out the broken flap.. Slipped in new flap. Put right wheel back on. Only hard thing was getting the retaining washer off and back onto the wheel axle; had to back it off a little at a time using a screwdriver.

I googled how to replace the rubber flap \"trail shield\" and found most responses included the need to remove one of the back wheels. Well that takes replacing a bracket and special tools (NO GO).
I took a better look and was able to simply unscrew/release the bracket holding the metal bar attached to the wheel and move the wheel out of the way just enough to slide off the old/on the new flap. Done. Would have been <15min if I was not mislead by the wheel issue.

Lawn mower rear flap had torn off.

1. Removed wheel push ring
2. Removed wheel
3. Tore off flap trying to remove leftover flap.
4. Added WD-40 to remove remainder of flap with pliers after pushing down plastic tab.
5. Replaced with new flap.
6. Replaced wheels
7. Replaced, broken push rings.
8. Push rings not flexible enough to be replaced, forced on with hammer, pliers, socket set, etc.
9. Swore to get a new mower next time something breaks.

back flap was broken

Sprayed WD40 along flap and onto rear axle bracket screws the day before new flap arrived.
This made removal of screws and flap very easy,
Removed brackets and moved axle so flap could be slid out.
Installed new flap and replaced brackets.....easy, peasy!

1. Slid off old flap and slid on new flap.
2. Removed old insulator and blade, had blade sharpened. Reassembled with new insulator.
