The rod assembly attaches to the cylinder and is made of metal. A screwdriver, a set of pliers, and an allen wrench may all be necessary during the installation of this part. It may become broken and will need to be replaced. This is available as an individual replacement part.

Hi Tom, Thank you for your question. If your air compressor does not build pressure past 55lbs, the issue may be with the reed or check valve, but there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. We recommend checking the exhaust valve assembly, the regulator, the pressure switch and the rod assembly. We have included a link from our website that you may reference on how to check these parts.
