Hi Tom, Thank you for your question. If your air compressor does not build pressure past 55lbs, the issue may be with the reed or check valve, but there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. We recommend checking the exhaust valve assembly, the regulator, the pressure switch and the rod assembly. We have included a link from our website that you may reference on how to check these parts. Once you have determined the part you need, please call customer service. We look forward to hearing from you!

Loosen head bolts and ensure identification and orientation of all parts.for correct re-assembly.

Remove rod assy using lon ... Read more g hex wrench down through opening by piston to loosen clamp.Observe torque required to loosen.
Practice installing new piston into cylinder before installing rod assy to crank. Piston must be inserted into cylinder sideways so that piston ring isn\'t damaged. Note that rod cross-section dimension can affect the ease of this. Carefully turn rod until piston head is square in cylinder. Disassemble after practice.
Install rod assy to crank and tighten clamp bolt to desired torque. Rotate piston to top dead center. As in practice, turn cylinder as far out-of-square to piston as possible and slide cylinder onto piston and carefully orient to 90 degrees.
Reassemble head parts maintaining original orientations. Re-do shroud and tube.
