My Weber grill did not come with a lid bale, only the hook under the lid that I can never find.

My 22 inch Weber didn\'t come with the lid bale. With a drill and a little help from my daughter we installed the lid holder in less than 10 minutes. No more looking for the hook underneath the lid, you know, the one you can never find. :)

Original damper was riveted and had to be drilled out. Old bale had to be cut in half via bolt cutter as the original support was time-welded to the kettle and the plastic lid supports on the ends of the bale had been so deformed by the heat over time that they could not be removed to slip the bale through the support. All in all, doable but not as easy as I thought.
