1. Apply plate over hole.
2. Quarter-turn clockwise to hold plate in place.

V-belt driving the cutter broke

2. Because the new belt was such a tight fit, I watched a couple YouTube videos to determine the best way to get the new belt on.
3. I tried the two different methods demonstrated by the videos. Method one was forcing the ... Read more belt over the pulley and method two required removing the pully, placing the belt on the pully and sliding the pully back on the shaft. I finally determined the best way was going to be method one and that I would need a 2nd person to turn the shaft while muscled the belt over the pully. This may sound simple in theory but because there is no stretch in the belt and because the motor and cutter are fixed in position with no tension adjuster on the machine to aid in replacement, this was no easy repair!
4. Eventually got the belt correctly mounted on the pulleys and the DeWalt planer runs like a champ!
Used Planer had missing \"key\" on wheel attached to cause noise and smoke and stink.
