Pulled switch and checked w ... Read more ith multi-meter, showed good. Power was getting to light on saw, shorted switch wires, nope saw still dead. I don\'t know what\'s inside the soft start can, figured some kind of electronics. An armature or field winding usually but not always gives warning or a smell so discounted an open winding but was prepared to test if need be. Ordered a switch just in case, brushes since they are a consumable item and should have on hand anyway and the soft start can. The spade connectors on my saw are small and the spade studs on the soft start can that was sent are big so no fit. I had to file narrower the studs on the soft start to fit the saw connectors. Once connected and reassembled I tried the saw, all back to normal.
