Plastic around the center hole on the base broke after years of use.

The old countersunk head screw was difficult to remove after years of being in place. I had ordered a replacement along with a replacement base anticipating that difficulty. The longest part of the repair was removing the old screw. I used penetrating oil to loosen the ... Read more threads over a couple of days but that didn\'t work. Eventually, I drilled a small hole in the screw head and used a screw removal bit (extractor bit) to back it out. That gave much more leverage than a Philips head screw driver which stripped the top.
After that, it was easy. Remove the parts held on by the screw, replace parts, and attach new base. Follow instructions provided on website. They are very detailed.
