This Kerf board is a genuine Makita replacement part. It is made of rigid plastic and has 2 screw holes, one at either end, to secure it to your saw. rnrnKerf boards (also called kerf plates) are used to prevent excessive splintering, resulting in cleaner cuts. Using the wrong kerf board for your tool can give a rough edge to the material you're cutting.
