Hello Anselmo, Thank you for your inquiry. The chuck screw (1 in the diagram) would normally go into the center of the chuck and attach it to the older version of the spindle, which used to have a hole in it for the chuck screw. The newer version of the spindle (3 in the diagram) no longer needs the screw and has a threaded end for the chuck. I hope this helps and good luck with your repair.
