Get the schematic of the miter saw. then put part by part together. Done and the saw works great!

Disassembled safety shield by removing screw, removed old spring and replace with new. Tiny hands are a plus with this repair when reassembling. Just make sure when reassembling that the inner coupling is in the proper position, foot should be under the extension arm not above.
