This authentic OEM knurled insert in your gauge shear serves as a threaded fastening component. Positioned on the shear head housing, the insert has a textured surface that provides a better grip for manual installation. On the opposite end of the insert, there is a socket head cap screw that fits into the threaded opening of the insert, creating a secure and firm connection between them. If you find that it has become difficult to grip and turn, it needs replacement. Inspect it for signs of wear or stripping. To replace a damaged insert in your shear, locate it and twist it until it dislodges, then remove it.
