Collet fits Milwaukee rotary tool - check your tool for retained broken collet base
Original collet broke, 4 sections fell out. After promptly receiving this replacement it seemed to be too long and thought I might need to return it. But upon looking into the collet receiving hole in the tool there was a ring of leftover old collet that made it look like a shiny shelf. I used a sharp 5/32” drill bit on a hand-held drill to easily extract the remaining collet base ring, then the replacement collet fit perfectly.
A few vernier measurements: collet shaft outer diameter = 5/32”; overall collet length = 23/32”; collet straight shaft length = 15/32”; retained broken collet shaft ring base length = 4/32”.
