Product Description

?

This is an authentic Milwaukee part, sold individually. The chuck is the top portion of the drill that holds the different drill bits. It is compatible with the hammer drills listed below. If your drill's bit retention is suffering, the rotation feels stiff, or the chuck has seized up entirely, a new chuck should fix the problem. To install the new chuck, simply thread the new chuck assembly onto the spindle and secure the chuck assembly as tightly as possible ( by hand). Open the chuck to accept the retaining screw and install the retaining screw. You will need to secure the screw with a Phillips screwdriver. The screw is reverse-threaded (requiring counterclockwise rotation to secure).

I took the LH screw out that holds chuck from coming off of the shaft. I had to cut the outer ring off the chuck since it would not hold good enough to get itself to unthread off the shaft. Then used a pipe wrench to take the chuck off. Threaded on the new one and installed the screw.

Open Chuck all the way, then stick a Phillips screwdriver in and take that screw out ( it\'s reverse thread) . Once the screws out toss that beast in reverse and grab the chuck, it will work it\'s way off, if it\'s to much trouble use a vice. Once the old one is out just do the getting off steps in reverse

1. Watched video on changing chuck.
2. Open chuck fully.
3. Remove phillips reverse thread screw from inside chuck.
4. Realize that it takes a bigger than normal phillips screwdriver and get impact phillips screwdriver to free the screw. It has thread lock and doesn\'t want to come loose.
5. Tighten allen wrench i nto chuck.
6. Secure drill in vice with chuck and allen wrench facing out.
7. Position allen wrench and bang with a hammer, counterclockwise, to break free. This also has some form of thread lock.
8. Unscrew chuck.
9. Thread on new chuck until tight.
10. Screw in reverse thread screw.
11. Try it out.
I suppose you could apply a thread lock. I did not. I\'ll just retighten when needed.
