Motor smoked during extensive hard use

2. Removed 9 screws from housing, noting any that were longer or shorter
3. Removed clip at base of handle inside battery compartment
4. Carefully pulled apart case, noting how high/low gear lever, trigger lock & direction switch are assembled
5. Detached LED lens
6. Pulled out circuit boar ... Read more d and motor, separating motor from gear box.
7. Desoldered motor noting polarity of connections
8. Soldered wires to replacement motor & attached motor to gearbox
9. Carefully replased motor, high/low gear lever & circuit board in handle
10. Attached LED lens & istalled trigger lock making sure direction switch was connected
11. Closed handle and replaced screws and clip
10. Installed battery and tested operation

2. Removed small case clip
3. Removed fasteners that held the case together.
4. Removed fasteners that held the the motor to gear case.
5. Removed harness to circuit board.
6. Removed wires to motor using soldering iron.
7. Cleaned and scuffed the mating surfaces using the micro file ... Read more and solderd the leads to motor.
8. Reinstallation is opposite of removal.

The new motor goes onto the gear box with a simple twist the wires have to be soldered on. Installed gear/motor assembly routed wi ... Read more res so they had clearance.Installed the the case and reversing switch carefully screwed assembly together and tested.
I now have a new motor in my drill and it is working like a new drill.
