This manufacturer sourced replacement part designed for use on Ridgid power tools. The purpose of the brush cap is to hold the brush in the tool. This cap has external threads that thread into the housing of the tool. Be careful when removing and replacing these, they have a tendency to break. This item is made out of plastic and it is sold individually. You would need a flathead screwdriver to install or remove this brush cap.

The saw is a reciprocating type.

Running intermittent and slow

Removed brush caps removed brushes, noted one was burnt. Installed new brush and cap on until until brush side. Removed 4 screws on router top, removed top. Removed 2 screws from windings. Repaired loose wire to burnt brush holder. Reinstalled windings, and top. Installed Second brush and cap.
Tested.
Works good as new.

1. With a screwdriver took out the brush caps.
2. With a tweezers, carefully removed the carbon
brushes, then put in the new ones.
3. To finish, with the screwdriver placed back the
brush caps.

Brush cap missing, \"repaired\" with wood block & tape.

Only problem was removing the accumulated gunk from multiple layers of tape the previous owner, used to hold a wood plug in place the missing brush cap. Then I simply screwed the new brush caps on the router
