This is a genuine Simplicity replacement part that has been OEM sourced to be used with trimmers. The cutting head attaches to the lower drive shaft and is used to store and rotate the trimming line. The cutting head is sold as an individual replacement part and is pre-assembled.

Held the nut with adjustable pliers and unscrewed by hand. Screwed on the new trim head by hand holding the nut with pliers. Snapper trimmer.

1. Removed the old trimmer head by locking on the nut with the adjustable wrench and unscrewing the trimmer head.
2. Screwed on the trimmer head while continuing to use the wrench to hold the nut.

Replace cutting head. Cutting head just screws off. Hex nut above cutting head. Grab hex nut with adjustable wench turn cutting head counter clock wise to remove. Screw new cutting head on clock wise to install.

I used an adjustable wrench to hold the shaft end of the trimmer and unscrewed the head with my hand. The new head came with some line on it so I screwed the new one on with my hand and it was ready to go.
