Stan from MACOMB, Michigan

Total Repair Time:

Tools:
Pliers, Screw drivers, Socket set
Parts Used:

Removed old parts
Inserted new drive shaft
Attached drive belt
Attached blade guard
Attached angle adjustment
Attached blade

The unusual story is sears sent two different \"replacement\" parts for the original broken piece. One was too wide and the other had the blade guard on the wrong side. Sea rs claimed the original part is no longer available. I found the exact replacement part needed at eReplacementParts. bought it, installed it and tested it out. works as good as new if not better. Thank you

Removed connecting parts that held the shaft on the machine, 3 bolts and a shifter clip.
Took it to the bench and removed the blade and guard along with the angle selector.
Once completed the spring slid out.
To install the new shaft I did have to use a wire wheel and remove the powder coating, as the
shaft would not allow the angle selector to slide on easily.
Once that was assembled, just had to reattach to the edger.

Worked perfectly!

Watched a YT video and followed his steps sequentially as he was doing it. The actual part for my craftsman edger was no longer in production and I was searching YT and came across this quill replacement that looked like my edger. In the comments section another person said that he also had a Craftsman edger and could no longer get the part but decided to give this assembly a chance. He said it worked as advertised on his Craftsman edger. I took the chance and ordered the part from you and it worked out great. The only thing I had to do was swap out the belt pulley because the new one was larger. If I didn\'t do this the pulley covers would not have fit on the quill assembly.
