1. Just unscrew the old head, I used a pair of channel locks to hold the shaft and removed the old head by hand.
2. The new head was a direct replacement and I just screwed it on by hand.

The job took less than 5 min.

Old trimmer head was getting harder to \"bump\" to feed the line. I could have fixed it with a new spring but figured, at 15 years old, I\'d just give it an upgrade.

Removed old trimmer head by inserting a hex key into the hole(s) at the base to hold the trimmer shaft in position. Removed the old head by simply unscrewing it from the end of the shaft. Simply did the opposite after some very minor assembly of the Speed Feed head and started trimming with the trimmer line that is pre-installed in the ne w head. Had the right sized connection on the end of the trimmer shaft already (my trimmer is a 15 or so year old Echo GT-2000) so I didn\'t even need to install a new connection (supplied with the Speed Feed head). Pretty much a \"plug and play\" sort of thing in my case.

Only had the flat factory head that you manually had to put the 2 pieces of string on the head. I replaced it with the bump feed head. It works amazing!! Went on very easily!
