I initially just ordered a new rope because I had shredded the rope trying to start the engine after leaving the tank full of gasoline from last winter. When I removed the assembly to install the new rope, the spring sprung. When I couldn\'t figure out how to reinstall the spring, I had to order the complete recoil starter assembly. I rep laced the entire recoil starter assembly in a matter of minutes and then added Sea Foam to break down the varnish, waited an hour for it to do it\'s thing and then went through the steps to start the engine. After four or five attempts I successfully ran the engine until all the gas burned up. P.S. - I\'m not a mechanic, just a DYI kind of guy.
