This is an original part from Yard Machines, MTD, Troy-Bilt, Bolens, and Yard-Man for use with Lawn Tractors. The extension spring activates the blade brake on the mower deck. The most common reason for replacing the spring is if the blades won't turn. This part is sold individually. The tool that you will need to replace the extension spring is pliers.

Brake extension spring broke

Remove broken spring from brake rod, replace with new spring.. Only tool needed was a strong shoe lace to stretch spring to attach to anchor spot on frame..

I use a Milwaukee 1/4 hex impact wrench I didnGÇÖt have to use a pipe wrench popped it
right off of there I was surprised
