?This is an Genuine OEM replacement part used on a variety of Lawn and Garden Engines. This part is made out of Metal and it is sold individually. The Push Rod rides on the camshaft to push the exhaust valve open during the exhaust stroke. A bent pushrod can not only affect your engine's performance, it can seriously damage other parts if the problem is not taken care of immediately.

Intake push rod broke, because set screw backed off, and push rod guide broke as well.

2. Put piston at top dead center, on the stroke where cam was not lifting push rods.
3. Reassembled push rod guides and rocker arms and set intake clearance to .005 thousands and exhaust to .007 thousands.

5.Put spark plug back in.
6. Put new valve cover gasket on and tightened bolts on valve cover.
7. Started motor and checked for leaks and listened for noise from rocker arm assembly, very quiet running and put back to work.

It was pretty simple after I determined that my p ... Read more roblem was the push rods. I removed the bent rod installed the new one I purchased from eReplacementParts.com. Adjusted the valves(You can find several youtube videos to guide you through this procedure). The engine started right up and I mowed about two hours with it this weekend.
I wish I could tell you why the push rod bent, but I can\'t. If anyone has an explnation I would love to here it.

Loosened valve rocker enough to rotate away
Remove push rod
Replace cap on valve
Put rocker back into place and adjust to motor specs
For my motor valve adjustment was
.003-.005 for intake
.005-.007 for exhaust

The engine would blow gas out the carburetor and the lock up, took off the valve cover and found the exhaust rocker arm split and intake push rod bent.
