The exhaust valve seat disintegrated causing damage to the head and the exhaust valve. The broken fragments caused some damage to the piston head as well, but I was able to smooth it out.

I took everything apart and accessed the damage and felt comfortable enough to attempt the repairs myself. I do not have a shop manual on the that engine but I was able to figure things out as I got into the repairs. I thought that I would have to rebuild the head completely with individual parts, but was surprised to be able to purchase the head assembly online. The actual repair was simple, after receiving the parts, I just switched out the damaged pieces with the head assembly, using the gaskets provided and making sure to reinstall the push rods with the correct valve. The actual work took less than an hour. Afterwards I started the mower and mowed about a half acre. The engine did not run smoothly, it idled a little rough but had plenty of power. I finished mowing the next day and the engine is now back to normal. It runs great and starts a lot easier now. I really appreciate \"eReplacementParts.com, Thanks

Removed the cowling from engine then exhaust pipe and the gas and air feed from the carb. Removed the bolts from the cylinder head. Of course I did the star removal(bouncing from side to side as not to warp the head). Since I had it open I cleaned the piston head and removed the valves. Put on some gasket sealer new gasket, put in the new Valves and set correctly . Then put the cylinder head on putting the bolts it the same way they were taken out and torqued to specs. Put it all back together and it\'s been running great ever since. A now with no issues.
