The B&S engine went to full throttle after starting the mower. The idle was extremely fast.

I had to remove pull rope cover from the top of the engine with the proper nutdriver. This allowed the throttle lever and two governor springs (one large and one small) to be accessible. The small silver spring was broken. I used needle nose pliers to remove the broken spring. I installed the new short silver spring ( part no. C-147, 6918 59, 29163227) to the throttle lever and lever located above the fuel tank. I installed the two long screws that hold the pull rope cover to engine. I started the engine to see if the idle speed slowed down. The engine did idle at a slower speed. I stopped the engine. I straightened one end of the small spring just a little to allow the idle speed to slow down some more RPM\'s. The large spring is still good. The repair was easy and my mower idles at the right speed. The engine does not bog down in high grass. The repair took 45 minutes because you must gain access to the throttle lever and springs. There was a small amount of time spent to adjust the spring to reduce engine idle speed for a more economy. The parts came on time and they were correct for my mower.

Changed spark plug (piston was hitting it and mashing gap closed), carb kit both I already had, changed oil (had so much oil in it it was coming back through the air filter), replaced the 2 above mentioned springs, and replaced the blade (had the incorrect blade and they took an impact gun and put it on really tight. This was my neighbor\ 's mower which she bought at a yard sale. Watching her boyfriend start it and as you can imagine lots of pulling and no running. Took a couple hours total and only 15 min for the above springs to fix it and it runs well now
