Just screw it to the base of the housing. The mounting screw does not come with the hook, just to let you know.

All of my power tools are cordless Makitas\'. Some do not have belt hooks. I added belt hooks to five of the cordless tools so that I would have them handy when working from a ladder.

I selected the best side of the tool upon which to mount the belt hook. Using the multi tool, I then cut a slot through the side of the tool, deep enough and wide enough to insert the belt hook. If the mounting flange of the belt hook mount was too long and protruded through the side of the tool and into the battery mounting slot, I use d the cordless grinding tool to shorten the flange.

Once the mount was properly in place, I drilled a hole through the side of the tool in which to mount a fastening screw; a hole narrower than the diameter of the mounting screw. If the screw was too long because it protruded into the area of the battery, I again used the cutoff wheel to shorten the screw and to point the tip. The tip was pointed by not cutting completely through the center of the screw.

I did this for each of the five tools that needed belt hooks. Finally I added clear silicone sealant around each of the modifying mounts. All mounts are secure and work as intended.
