This is an original Penn replacement part manufactured for use with levelwind conventional reels. This metal line guide has a slot line is feed through, and the guide sits on the worm, and moves back and forth to guide the line smoothly across the spool. The line guide requires a guide pawl, and cap which are available separately, the line guide is sold individually.

Replaced pawl which solved the problem but I also decided to replace the line guide and worm gear while I was working on it! All you need to fix your reel is a screwdriver and a little reel grease.

Reel did not reel in line evenly

Wouldn\'t let line out of the reel in without binding up.

To replace the worm on the line level winder model, unscrew left side worm bearing and remove worm, replace worm with flat end going into right side plate, ( handle side of reel). Be sure to lube the new worm before putting in a also the bearing! Replace new worm with flat end going into left side plate.
To replace pawl unscrew the pawl cover screw form the guide carriage, remove pawl and drop the new on in place , knife edge into the groove of worm and reinstall pawl cover..
