?This is a genuine manufacturer sourced replacement part designed for use with Bostitch air compressors. Reed valves are commonly used in two-stroke engines, where they control the fuel-air mixture admitted to the cylinder. As the piston rises in the cylinder a vacuum is created in the crankcase beneath the piston. This part is made out of metal and it is sold individually.

Small metal reed valves had failed. Compressor would only pump to 65 PSI.

2. Removed 2 screws and 2 bolts with the nuts that secure the cylinder head.
3. Removed the cylinder head to replace the damaged valve plate assembly.
4. Removed the intake reed valve from the top of the piston and replaced with the new part.
5. ... Read more Installed the new gasket between the valve plate and the head.
6. Reinstalled the bolts and the screws that hold the head and the torque.
7. Removed one screw on the piston rod and installed the new cooling fan.
8. Reassembled the cover and test ran. All worked fine.
Fan/connecting rod evidently slipped off bearing destroying fan and putting excessive wear on piston ring. Also fan pieces sucked into prison and melted onto reed valve.

Removed head and broken fan.
Pushed piston up thru top of cylinder
Cleaned piston head w/ brass wire rush to remove melted plastic. Also cleaned cylinder w/ fine steel wool. Replaced piston ring, reed valve & fan.
Tap connecting rod onto bearing. You may also want to order the head g ... Read more askets. Do not overtightened heads.
Be sure to tighten all fittings to prevent air leakage.
Reassembled cover, plugged unit in and it pressured right up to 140psi.
Would turn on but not hold pressure more then 40 psi.
