The retaining-ring goes between the tele-guard and the washer. This is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer and used in Porter Cable saw bosses, drywall sanders, and circular saws. The ring is sold individually and is made out of metal. A wrench may be helpful when replacing this part. It will need to be replaced if it bends or breaks.
