It encases the clutch and when the engine gets up to a certain speed the clutch will engage the drum assembly. The sprocket which is part of the drum assembly is the part that drives the chain. Please make sure to refer to the appropriate diagrams of your model for the correct location and application of this part. The sprocket on the drum was stripped, and bar adjuster screw was missing

Total Repair Time:
30 - 60 mins

Parts Used:

My sprocket was damaged so that when I revved the engine the chain would not turn, the engine revved normally but the chain would not turn!!! I first removed the side cover nuts and the bar with the chain, then I removed the other side cover with the pull start. Then I removed the spark plug and turned the flywheel until the piston was o n the down stroke. I gently fed the nylon rope into the cylinder until it was full of rope, then turned saw on its side with the clutch facing upward, and turned the clutch in the direction of the arrow that says \"off\", when it became hard to turn the clutch, because the piston is pushing against the rope, I used a special tool for removing clutches and loosened the clutch from the crankshaft in the clockwise direction. Then carefully laying each part aside I removed the clutch, washer, drum with sprocket and thrust washer. Then I cleaned the side of the saw as good as I could. After a good cleaning and inspection of all the parts and the saw I began assembly in reverse order, the thrust washer, the NEW sprocket drum, washer, and then the clutch. I gently turned the clutch with the clutch tool until I felt resistance, and then tightened the clutch fully. Then carefully remove the rope from the cylinder and replace the spark plug if it needs a new one now is the time to do it, then replace the pull rope cover. I had to fix the bar adjuster screw on my saw because the retaining washer had actually broken and that\'s why it was missing, after putting the new screw kit in, I reattached the bar, chain, and side cover. Filled it up with fuel and bar oil and went outside and tested it out. Runs as good as new.
