This is an authentic OEM part from Craftsman for use with Chainsaws. The recoil starter hub spins the flywheel to start the engine when you pull the starter rope. The most common reasons for replacing the starter hub is if the engine won't turn over when starter rope is pulled, the starter rope pulls (too) easily (and without resistance the starter hub is not engaging the flywheel or the Starter hub is not turning with the pulley (when the starter rope is pulled). This part is sold individually. Here is a list of tools that are needed to replace the starter hub Phillip's screwdriver, Torx drivers, long-nosed pliers, and scissors or wire cutters (optional).
