The rubber guide bushing on my Husqvarna 440 chain saw had torn. Unrelated to this, the small plastic wear protector had done its job by preventing damage to the larger plastic piece to which it was attached. The chain had cut into the protector. ... Read moreure to make sure the chain brake is disengaged before attempting to remove the cover. I neglected to do this and had to pry off the cover. This action may have caused the damage to the guide bushing. It also required disengaging the brake before the cover could be reinstalled. To do this, I had to modify the socket wrench that came with the saw in order to reset the brake. Otherwise, this was a very easy repair.
