This is a genuine OEM replacement part, it is sold individually. The purpose of this washer is to act as a spacer between the chain sprocket and as a friction barrier on the chainsaw models shown below. This is a wear part that we send out quite often. It is advised to order an extra one or two to keep on hand.

Loosen the tension on the blade and bar, remove the chain cover. Then remove the chain from the bar and sprocket. Remove ring, sprocket, replace sprocket, washer use snap ring pliers to put ring on. Place the blade on the bar and sprocket. Replace the cover and tighten the chain and bar to the correct tension.

Chain came off during use, doing a bit of damage to the plastic parts, causing the retaining clip and washer to fly off and dissapear in the vacant lot.

... Read moree saw. Parts came and I cleaned all existing part of saw from debris and chain saw oil. Replaced parts (used photos - learned this a long time ago, the hard way). The only guess was which side of the sprocket the washer belonged on as the original was blown away. The new sprocket was just a bit too thick so the retaining clip would not go on. The old sprocket looked fine so I reused it. Using the retaining clip tool, well worth a $6-7 price, I reassembled the saw. Works like it is supposed to and now I have a large pile of tree branches to haul away. I have not yet replaced the switch parts but will. The current switch requires me to press and pull in just the necessary angle to engage the motor. I ordered those parts at the same time. Great source of parts; timely shipping; trouble free. Will use ereplacementparts again.
Remove the chain cover, loosen the chain. Remove chain and bar. Use retaining ring pliers to remove the retaining ring from slot in the shaft, then the washer then slide off the old sprocket. Install the new parts in reverse order. Now it is installed, the chain cannot slide off the sprocket, and the saw works perfectly once again.
Remove the tension on the chain. Then remove the chain cover. remove the old chain. Then remove the retaining ring from the shaft. And remove the worn washer and put the new one on, then the retaining ring. Install the new chain. Replace the chain cover , then adjust the chain tension accordingly.
1. Placed the chain back in place over the sprocket.
2. Place the washer on top of the sprocket.
3. Used a screwdriver to spread open the retaining ring and slide it down in place over the washer.

Lost hex nut while replacing chain also retaining ring came off and needed to be replaced
Put washer on sprocket and used small pair of retaining ring pliers to spread ring to secure the washer. Replaced chain and reassembled using the new hex nut. Spent more time locating retaining ring pliers than it took to do the whole repair.
I removed the chain cover, then I used a retaining ring pliers to remove the ring. Replaced the retaining ring and washer. Replaced the dull chain onto the sprocket and on the bar. Replaced the chain cover and then tensioned the chain to the proper tension.
