Remove chain cover assembly. As simple as these things can be. Open end 3/8 wrench and Philips head screw driver. In less than 15 minutes removed and replaced both items. Just make sure the chain direction is correct. If you mount it incorrectly, remove and flip over.

Loosen the tension on the chain
Remove the chain cover assembly
Remove the chain from the bar and socket
Install the new chain on the bar and socket
Replace the chain cover
Adjust the new chain to the correct tension

Put sprocket , washer and retaining ring on pruner --I had apparently lost retainer ring --this piece was important to keep everything in place

I received the new motor. I didn\'t notice that new brushes didnt come with the new motor assembly. (my own fault) Luckily the old brushes were in decent shape. I installed them on the new stator. And reassembled. Works like new.

Removed the old chain adjustment assembly
Cleaned up tool with a rag
Installed the new chain adjustment assembly
Installed the bar and new chain
Attached the chain cover
Adjusted the bar and chain to the correct tension

Removed the front plate, put the chain on, then put the front plate back on. Make sure the chain is on the sprocket.

Loosened the tension on the old chain and bar and removed them.
Installed the new bar and the new chain around the sprocket and onto the bar.
Replace the chain cover.
Adjusted the tension on the new bar and chain
