This is an authentic manufacturer approved replacement switch used on DeWALT drills. It is the part of the tool handling on/off and variable speed functions. Since switches have moving mechanical parts, they will eventually wear out and will require a replacement. Switch has a plastic body and it is sold individually. To replace this switch you would need a screwdriver. • Remove screws used to hold two pieces of housing set together • Disconnect wires from the old switch and remove it from the housing • Place the new switch in the housing and connect wires to it • Reassemble the housing

Pop the rear cover and handle cover off, remove the wires from the switch. You may want to make a wiring diagram. Connect the wires to the new switch. Pull back the springs holding the brushes in and set it on the holder, disconnect the worn brush leads, and remove them. Install the new brushes in the holder and connect the leads. Put the
... Read more brush springs behind the brushes, so they make contact withe the armature. Replace the rear cover and handle cover.
Remove the back of the handle. Make a wiring diagram for the wires. Remove the wires from the old switch. You may want to remove the cord clamp to make it easier to work with the wires. Then install the wires on the new switch , according to the wiring diagram. Install the back of the handle.
Removed 4 screws from rear brush cover, then remove two screws from handle cover slid switch out pulling backwards pull out just enough to get access to wiring. ... Read moreres ,pry slightly and pull upwards on wire to release them. Pay attention to the way other wires are bent and shaped so re assembly is a snap they all need to be in certain spots. Maybe take a picture if in doubt before pulling any wires off. It will just make it easier. Once all wires have been transferred to new switch carefully reassemble in reverse order.
Unscrewed handle on drill and took the trigger switch out.
Put new one in and it worked!
The four wires that go from the switch to the brushes, were somewhat difficult to release from the trigger. A pointed tool had to be used to disengage the wires, but it was very simple to put the new ones in.
