Mower does not pull hard any more. Will not climb a slight incline. Has a high pitch screech when it bogs down. Backs up ok. Deck belt is good.

Hello David, Thank you for the question. The deck belt only controls the mower deck, not the drive wheels. From what you are describing everything points to a stretched belt and needs to be replaced. Just because the belt looks ok does not mean it is not stretched. You cant tell by looking at it just the symptoms. You will need Lawn Tractor Ground Drive Belt Part Number: 954-04208A. I have had P/N 732-04629 (extension spring) either come off or break off twice. Is their something I should be doing to help correct this? Is belt tightness a contributing factor? Thank You

Hello Todd. Thank you for the question. Sorry I have no information on what exact part has failed but I would start checking everything on the deck such as a seized pulley, damaged pulley, belt keepers are all in place and not bent and making sure any idler arms are free of debris and are lubricated so they can move freely. Pulleys should spin freely with no noise and play. I hope this helps and good luck with your repair.
