engine runs good when we once we get it started the problem is the starter wont spin pass the compression I don't see a compression release what do you think i hate to buy a starter I've done that before on another an that didn't work

Hi Ricky and thank you for contacting us, I would first make sure the battery (if equipped) has enough power to turn the engine over. I would try jumping it and if it turns over past the compression stroke then you have a weak battery and it needs to be replaced. Check all wires and connections for tightness and corrosion as well before replacing the battery. If you have a plug-in starter start by checking all conditions of the wires as well. The next thing to do would be to adjust the valves. The intake valve clearance is .003 - .005 in (,08 -,13 mm) and the exhaust valve clearance is. 005 - .007 in (,13 -,18 mm). If the problem persists then replace the starter. I hope this helps and good luck with your repair.
