take the whole mouse pad put it in a vice then take a razor blade and cut off the pad the old melt the pad and use the alcohol to get some of the Adhesives off. Give it a light sanding scuffing up the plastic so that the new pad will stick. Put the pad back on the sanding plate on the bottom of the sander put the screws back on and voila took about a total of maybe 10 minutes

Separate sides and remove old platen.
Remove stand-off supports and place them on the new platen.
Reattach right and left sides of sander with screws.
Attach finger platen with screw
lost the finger platen. I lent the sander out, came back with a cracked canister assembly.

2. Used screw driver to pry failed platen assembly from sander
3. Aligned and installed new platen assembly onto sander
4. Installed screws and tightened slowly and evenly to assure new platen was held firmly in place.
5. Returned sander to work with no platen failure on work previously attempted.
